#Champs2025: Dockery and Douglas take gold in girls’ 100 finals
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Lacovia High’s Sabrina Dockery and Shanoya Douglas of Muschett High obliged as huge favourites and won the girls’ Class One and Two 100m finals respectively on Wednesday’s second day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.
Dockery looked like an athlete on a mission, running a new lifetime best of 11.07 seconds (0.8m/s), the second fastest time ever for a female at Champs to win the Class One title, getting out of the blocks like a bullet and streaking home for the win.
She improved on her previous personal best of 11.12 seconds set in Tuesday’s first round and her time was only second best to Alana Reid’s superb national junior record of 10.92 seconds set in 2023.
Her time also improved her world Under-20 leading mark.
Holmwood Technical’s Doniellia Lewis was second in 11.43 seconds and Edwin Allen’s Renecia Edwards was third in 1.54 seconds.
As expected Douglas won the Class Two race in 11.32 seconds (-0.3m/s), the second fastest time ever as she caught the fast starting Natrece East of Wolmers Girls who ran 11.59 seconds while Adora Campbell of St Jago took third with 11.66 seconds.
St Jago High’s Shannia Campbell won the Class Three gold medal with 11.62 (0.0m/s), finishing ahead of Shayon Smith of Vere Tech who ran 11.82 seconds and Rihanna Scott of Ferncourt High who ran 11.82 seconds.
